Williamsburg, KY - The Patriots women's swimming and diving team continued their run of domination during the 2021-22 season, capturing their tenth straight Mid-South Conference with their seventh top-five finish at the NAIA National Championships in the past nine seasons. The Patriots went 5-0 in dual meets on the year and with countless career-best performances in the water and on the boards.

THE YEAR IN NUMBERS

The Patriots captured their tenth consecutive Mid-South Conference championship.  UC scored 813 points to pull away from the field to win by 95.5 points.

For the eighth straight year, a UC Swimmer has been named MSC Swimmer of the Year as Hanne te Velthuis garnered the honors this year.  She won all three of her individual events and is the fourth Patriot to earn this honor.

  Cumberlands tallied 28 NAIA All-Americans this season led by te Velthuis and Maria Basto, who earned seven All-
  American honors each.  UC had six multi-time All-Americans this season.

The Patriots tallied 17 individual performances that rank in the top ten of the program.  In addition to that UC set three program records this season, including setting a new school record in both the 400 free relay and the 800 free relay.

   Maria Basto clocked a school-record time of 56.00 in the 100 back and finished as the national runner-up.  Basto
   also tallied top-five finishes in the 200 back and the 200 IM at the NAIA National Championships.

  UC recorded 324 points to place fourth at the NAIA National Championships.  It also marks the fourth consecutive
  season that Cumberlands has posted a top-five finish.

 For the third straight year, a Patriot swimmer captured the 500 free national title as freshman Ali Pecore touched the wall in 5:00.77 to finish atop the podium.  Pecore followed Mendy de Rooi, who earned the title in 2019 and 2020.
