Williamsburg, KY - The Patriots women's tennis team had an historic season that included winning their first Mid-South Conference tournament title and posting their highest ranking in program history.  UC went 23-6 on the season with a 9-1 mark in MSC play, while having four MSC All-Conference players and taking home a trio of top honors.

THE YEAR IN NUMBERS

The Patriots captured the Mid-South Conference Tournament title for the first time in program history.  UC went 3-0 at the tournament, including a 4-1 win over eighth-ranked Lindsey Wilson to earn the title.

  Tomomi Nagao compiled 24-1 record on the year, including a perfect 24-0 against NAIA opponents.  The grad student
  closed out the year ranked tenth in the ITA singles rankings, while setting the program record for career wins in
  singles and doubles and being a NAIA First Team All-American.

After spending most of the year inside the top-15 of the NAIA, Cumberlands closed out the season ranked 11^th in the NAIA.  That is their highest ranking in program history.

  Of UC's 23 wins on the season, 17 of them were sweeps as the Patriots were dominant throughout the season.  The Patriots blanked six opponents who were ranked or receiving votes including #11 Xavier and #17 Reinhardt on back-to-back days in February.

The duo of Tessa Gray and Meiri Okuwaki recorded a 22-3 doubles record, playing primarily #2 doubles.  The tandem closed out the season on a 14 match win streak that dated back to March 9.

Six Patriot players recorded at least ten singles wins on the season.  In addition to Nagao, Okuwaki and Johanna Beckmann notched 19 wins apiece, while Hana Shimeno earned 18 wins on the year.  Fan Shiau and Catherine Rae finished with 14 and 10 wins, respectfully.

UC garnered three MSC top honors and had four All-Conference selections.  Tomomi Nagao become the third Patriot to be named Conference Player of the Year in consecutive seasons, while Mieri Okuwaki earned MSC Freshman of the Year honors.  Dev Sivam was voted the MSC Assistant Coach of the Year.

This is the fifth straight season that Cumberlands advanced to the NAIA National Tournament.  UC defeated Mobile 4-1 in the first round as the Patriots have reached the second round four of their last five opportunities.
