Williamsburg, KY – The Patriots women's swimming & diving team continues to set the standard for student-athletes as they have shined both in the classroom as well as in the water. In a year in which they captured their tenth straight MSC title, UC had 15 student-athletes earned CSCAA Scholar-All-America, while the Patriots was one of 11 NAIA teams that garnered CSCAA Scholar Team accolades, which was announced by the national office this week.

Cumberlands 15 selections are the most by any NAIA team this season.  They are one of just three NAIA schools with at least 10 honorees joining SCAD and Olivet Nazarene.

UC accounted for 15 of the 67 NAIA student-athletes that garnered this honor.  Maria Basto, Kayana Cook, Isabella Cooksey, Emma Lehmkuhl, Rebecca Loftus, Sara Overly, Liberty Poley, Hanne te Velthuis, Leah Thomas earned first team honors.  Holly Gabriel, Keyleigh Hagan, Allison Lovell, Jami Margolen, Emilia Martinez Morales, Kaisey Speck were second team selections.

It was the second consecutive year that Basto, Cook, Lehmkuhl, Loftus, Lovell, Margolen, Martinez Morales, Overley, Poley, te Velthuis, and Thomas earned this distinction.

In total 1,206 swimmers and divers from across the NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA were recognized with this honor.

To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship.  Second-Team selections (also called Honorable Mention) must have also earned a 3.50 GPA or higher and achieved a "B" time standard for the national championship or participated at a diving zone qualification meet.

In addition to the individual success, Cumberlands was also recognized as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team.  The Patriots were one of five NAIA schools that posted over a 3.50 team GPA for the semester.

Across the sport 731 teams from 441 institutions earned this honor for the Spring 2022 semester.

UC captured their tenth consecutive Mid-South Conference title and placed fourth at the 2022 NAIA National Championships.
