Tallahassee, FL - Competing in there first 8k race of the season the Cumberlands men's cross country team earned a third place team finish at the NAIA Pre-Nationals meet Saturday morning.
Noah McClellan and
Deshawn Crowe each posted a top-10 finish to pace the Patriots, who have now posted consecutive top-three finishes to start to the season.
McClellan crossed the finish line in 27:06.4, earning a sixth-place individual finish.
Deshawn Crowe was the tenth finisher of the race and clocked a new PR of 27:23.5. This was his highest finish as a Patriot.
James Overholser finished five spots behind Crowe for 15
th after pacing a 27:30.5 8k. Junior
Kyle Woodward was the next Patriot finisher crossing the line 25
th in his first race of the season with a time of 28:09.1.
Andrew Barker rounded out UC's scorers on the day with a 31
st place finish after clocking a 28:44.3 in the first collegiate 8k of his career.

Lonnell Johnson finished 63
rd (30:18.9), Clay Houge placed 72
nd (31:06.7),
Kevin Mengich finished 78
th (32:09.4), and
Zach Pennington finished 79
th (32:09.6) also competed for the Patriots.
The Patriots tallied 78 points on Saturday for third place. Valdosta State came away with 40 points to win the meet while SCAD Atlanta totaled 60 for second. (RV) SCAD Savannah and Mobile were the fourth and fifth place finishers with 83 and 129 points, respectively.
UC will be back in action two weeks from now as they are set to compete in the Live in Lou Classic in Louisville, KY.
