Senior Night Ends With A Win Over Asbury

Williamsburg, KY –
The Patriots women's swimming and diving team won over Asbury 194-79. UC also celebrated their seven seniors, Maria Basto, Kayana Cook, Izzy Miller, Hanne te Velthuis, Jami Margolen, Emma Lehmkuhl, and Elise Weiler. Elisa Corradi led the way by picking up two individual wins and a relay win.

Corradi notched her first win of the day in the 200 breast. She finished strong with a time of 2:22.91, which was 12 seconds faster than Izzy Cooksey, who finished in second place with a time of 2:35.51. Corradi's next win came in the 200 fly. In that event, she pulled away from the rest of the field to touch the wall in 2:08.41 for her second provisional cut. That time was good enough to be fourth in the NAIA. Aurora Stavoy and Cooksey completed the podium finish, as Stavoy came in second with a time of 2:21.14, followed by Cooksey with a time of 2:23.43.

Romy Itzkovich Sacco also came away with a pair of wins in the 500 free and the 100 back. In the 500 free, Sacco finished first with a time of 5:20.70, followed by Stavoy in second at a time of 5:33.40. Then, in the 100 back, Sacco touched the wall in 1:00.23 for her second win and provisional poll of the day. Elizabeth West then came in third with a time of 1:05.23.

Valentina Zapata Ceballos notched two wins today as well. Her first win came in the 200 back, where she touched the wall in 2:09.31 for a provisional cut. West also finished in second place with a time of 2:21.03. Then in the 400 IM, Ceballos came away with her second provisional cut, as she touched the wall in 4:46.51 for first place.

In the 50 free, Hanne te Velthuis picked up a win with a time of 24.54. Maria Basto finished in third with a time of 26.12. In the 100 free, Anastasiia Shatalova notched a win, as she touched the wall in 55.79 seconds. Emilia Martinez Morales came in second in the 200 free, with a time of 2:04.52. Magdalena Mayer followed with a third-place finish. Then in 1000 free, Weiler came in first with a time of 11:37.17, followed by Filippa Malmstrom, who finished second with a time of 11:41.97.

Judit Garreta Yuste came in first in the 100 breast, with a time of 1:13.68. While Riley Cerqueira finished in third with a time of 1:15.31. Te Velthuis also picked up a win in the 100 fly with a time of 1:03.19.

The relays, the team of Basto, Cook, te Velthuis and Margolen notched a win in the 400 medley relay. Then in the 400 free relay, Corradi, Aldara Gonzalez Riano, Keyleigh Hagen, and Martinez Morales came in first. On the one-meter diving board, Lehmkuhl finished first with a score of 216.25, while Tori Wells finished second.

Cumberlands move to 9-0 on the season. They return to the pool on January 21st  to take on Milligan at Milligan.
