Louisville, KY – 17
th ranked Patriots men's wrestling team finished the weekend 2-4 at the NWCA National Duals. UC took down Baker 35-14, before dropping the match against Ottawa 24-18.
Jace Luchau finished the weekend 5-0 with four falls and a major decision win in the 149-weight class. Along with two wrestlers finishing in the top 5 of their respective weight brackets in the NUWAY Open.

Baker (PDF)
This dual started with Franco getting a forfeit win to put the Pats up 6-0. Then
Conner Burrus got a 10-1 major decision win to put UC up 10-0. In his match, he notched two takedowns, a two-point near fall, two escapes, and received a point for riding time. The Pats then got back-to-back falls, one from 20th-ranked
Chasen Brown in 2:52 and the other by Luchau in 1:55.
James Dosado then picked up a 7-6 decision win to give the Pats a 25-0 lead. Dosado had four points from penalties, two points for escapes, and a point for riding time. Two matches later, Charlie Friedenreich notched a 13-5 major decision win to give UC a 29-3 lead. Friedenreich came away with six takedowns throughout the match, plus a riding time point on his way to victory. Then
Wylie Dunn got a forfeit win in the 285 match to give the Patriots the 35-14 dual win.

Ottawa (PDF)
10th-ranked
Austin Franco picked up the day's first win by taking down 15th-ranked Diago Hernandez in a 19-3 tech fall. Franco notched an escape followed by a takedown and a four-point near fall to close out the first period. Then in the second period, he would get three more takedowns, along with another four points near fall, a penalty point, and a riding time point.
Conner Burrus followed with a major decision win in the 133 bout. Burrus did most of his damage in the opening period getting three takedowns and a four-point near fall. He would go on to get a takedown in each of the following two periods to win 14-3. Then in the 141 match, eighth-ranked
Bryce Nickel took down 13th-ranked Austin Kolvek in an 11-10 decision. With the bout being tied going into the final period, Nickel went down six points before notching an escape and two penalty points. A few seconds later, he would get a takedown and a two-point near fall to take the lead as time expired. 19
th Luchau would get his fourth fall of the weekend, this time over 18th-ranked Hunter Wagner in 4:22. Ottawa went on to win the next six matches to take the dual 24-18.
NUWAY Open (PDF)
Trenton Pagaduan finished in third place in the 133 bracket. He went 4-1 on the day with three decision wins and a forfeit win in the third-place match. Then in the 165 bracket,
Harrison Brooks went 4-2 and finished in fourth place. He had two major decision wins, one decision win, and a no-contest win.
Cumberlands moved to 4-8 on the season. They will travel back to Columbia, KY, on January 11 to take on Lindsey Wilson at 7 pm (EST).
