Bowling Green, KY- 19th-ranked Jace Luchau takes home his first MSC Wrestler of the Week honor this season after going 5-0 at the NWCA National Duals. Luchau came away with four falls and a major decision win.
Luchau was the starter in the 149-weight class for the Pats and had an outstanding weekend as he took down three ranked opponents. The sophomore from Selma, CA, started his weekend off with a 35-second fall over Kael Brisker (Southeastern), ranked 24 in the 141 weight class. He followed that with a 2:25 fall over Campbellsville's Gavin Andreoni. Then in the last dual of day one, Luchau notched a major decision win over 13th-ranked Nick Gates of Indiana Tech. In that match, he notched a takedown in the first two seconds, followed by a two-point near fall. Then in the second period, he got an escape, a takedown, and a four-point near fall. In the final period, he got two takedowns and a point for riding time to win 16-3.
On day two, Luchau continued his dominant performance with back-to-back falls to close out the weekend. In the first match, he took down 18th-ranked Hunter Wagner of Ottawa in 4:22. Then ended the weekend with a 1:55 fall over Nikolas Slatoff of Baker.
Luchau scored 28 dual points this weekend for the Patriots. His record comes to 8-0 with 40 total dual points this season. Of his eight wins five have been falls, with the fastest being 27 seconds. While having two decision wins and a major decision win.
Cumberlands has a 4-8 overall dual record and will head to Lindsey Wilson for a dual on Wednesday, January 11
th, at 7 pm EST.
