Bowling Green, KY - For the second time this season a UC women's wrestler took home the Mid-South Conference Wrestler of the Week honor. This week it was
Dymond Guilford who was honored, announced by the conference office Monday.
Guilford posted an undefeated weekend at the NWCA National Duals, going 4-0 in the 170-weight class. The Lancaster, CA native notched all of her wins via tech falls, outscoring her opponents 41-0. Among all wrestlers at the tournament, Guilford had the most tech falls in the least amount of time, only spending a total of five minutes on the mats.
The graduate student defeated two ranked opponents including second ranked (155) Kaylynn Albrecht from Baker. The match was the longest of the tournament for Guilford, where she was on the mat for 2:32.
Guilford is undefeated on the season with all of her wins coming in duals. She is the second wrestler for UC to take home the award this season, behind
Ariana Pereira who won it on November 7. The Patriots are just the second team in the MSC to have multiple honorees this season.
Next, the Patriots will travel to Sylvania, OH for a Mid-South Conference tri-dual featuring (RV) Lourdes and (RV) Siena Heights. It will take place Friday, January, 13 with the first dual at 6PM ET.
