Columbia, KY – The UC men's swimming team had seven different swimmers record at least one win on the day as the Patriots defeated Lindsey Wilson 167-88 Saturday afternoon. UC improved to 2-0 in dual meets this season and had seven swims that clipped the NAIA provisional cut.
Ruthiiki Satti led the way posting a pair of wins and achieving the NAIA provisional cut in both events. The sophomore clocked a 52.15 to pull away from the field and win the 100 fly by over a second. Satti also took first in the 100 back, touching the wall in 52.77.
In his season debut,
Jokubas Jankauskas clocked a 1:58.40 to win the 200 back. Jankauskas earned his second provisional cut in the 100 back, where he went 52.55. Mateus Cruz also achieved a provisional cut the in 100 back with a time of 53.77. Cruz notched his first collegiate win in the 100 free, finishing with a time of 48.63.
Peyton Berter and
Ruben Gonzalez de Oliveira accounted for the final two provisional cuts on the day. Berter clocked a 4:22.58 to win the 400 IM, while Gonzalez de Oliveira went 1:45.70 in the 200 free.
For the second straight week,
Will Gilbert posted a first place finish in the 1,000 free (10:22.09).
Elijah Henry clocked a 22.27 to win the 50 free, while veteran
Mikolaj Kala went 2:11.42 en route to a first place finish in the 200 breast.
In the final event of the day, the 200 free relay,
Agustin Rasche, Gonzlez de Oliveira,
Leon Irmer, and Satti combine to post a winning time of 1:27.08.
The Patriots will return to the water Saturday, October 28, when they travel north to face Indiana Wesleyan in Marian, IN. The meet is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
