Williamsburg, KY – UC concluded the Patriot Duals by posting an 0-4 record to finish in fifth place in the Red Bracket. Cumberlands tallied a 2-6 overall record at the Patriot Duals along with five undefeated wrestlers.
Among the five UC wrestlers to go undefeated across the two days: Presley Anderson (7-0), Naomi Duenas (4-0), MaQuoia Bernabe (3-0), Cierra Abrego (2-0), and Chamira Cooper (1-0). For Anderson, she recorded two falls, two forfeits, one decision (7-6), and two tech falls, where she blanked her opponents by a score of 20-0. Duenas tallied four forfeits on the weekend, followed by Bernabe with a tech fall (10-0) and two forfeits. Rounding out the undefeated wrestlers, Abrego tallied a single tech fall (10-0) and a forfeit. Cooper recorded a single fall on the weekend at 1:28.
#13 CUMBERLANDS BARELY EDGED BY #13 TIFFIN, 23-25
Gracie Elliott started the dual off strong against the Dragons, recording a quick match with a tech fall, making the team score 4-5. Presley Anderson followed Elliot with her own tech fall paired with a fall at 2:42 from Kaitlin Castro, putting the Pats ahead 12-10.
Back-to-back falls from the Dragons propelled them past the Pats, 12-20. A Dragon forfeit in the 155-bout saw the Pats climb to 17-20, but another fall from the Dragons propelled them ahead once again, 17-25.
Another Dragon forfeit in the 191-match saw the team score at a 23-25 total, in favor of the Dragons.
#13 CUMBERLANDS FALLS TO (RV) SIENA HEIGHTS, 20-25
Alex Uribe and Elliott got the first pair of wins in the dual for the Pats. Uribe recorded a forfeit from Siena Heights for an easy 5-0 start. Elliott tallied multiple takedowns while battling #17 Valeria Ahumada. With grit and determination, Elliott marked an 8-4 decision, raising the team score to 8-1.
Siena Heights responded with a tech fall of their own, but Anderson marked a fall at 1:25 to keep the Pats ahead, 13-5. Siena Heights rallied with a fall, a 5-4 decision, and a pair of tech falls to capture the lead and soar pass UC, 14-21.
A forfeit from Siena Heights in the 191-bout saw the team score at a 20-25 total, in favor of Siena Heights.
#13 CUMBERLANDS IS DEFEATED BY MOUNT OLIVE, 18-30
The Trojans pulled away early with a tech fall and a pair of falls, raising the team score to 0-14. UC's Castro recorded back-to-back four-point takedowns to mark a 16-6 tech fall, putting the Pats on the board (4-15).
Anderson continued her perfect streak at the Duals, marking a fall at 2:12, upping the team score to 9-15. The Trojans recorded a pair of falls and a forfeit from UC to finalize their team score, 9-30.
In a late effort, a tech fall from Abrego in the 170-bout and Chamira Cooper's fall at 1:28 finalized the team score at 18-30, in favor of the Trojans.
#13 CUMBERLANDS BATTLES WITH #10 INDIANA TECH, 14-30
The Pats faced a strong Warriors team, seeing the Warriors with a trio of tech falls to spark the dual, making the team score 0-12. Anderson rounded out her perfect streak at the dual with a tech fall over her opponent, making the team score 4-12.
The Warriors recorded a fall and a pair of tech falls and a UC forfeit to soar past the Patriots, making the team score of 4-30. In the 170-bout Preciad-Meza dominated her opponent and marked a fall at 0:54 followed by a Warriors forfeit in the 191-match. The team score was finalized at 14-30, in favor of the Warriors.
The Patriots will return to the mats for the US Open in Fort Worth, TX on December 15th – 16th with a time to be announced.
