Williamsburg, KY –
For the team's final dual meet of the season, #5 Cumberlands hosted #15 Brewton-Parker. The Patriots earned the 33-14 win, taking seven of the ten matches to finish the regular season with a 12-10 overall record and 5-3 Mid-South Conference record.

Cumberlands came out strong with Elizabeth Dosado at the 101-weight class. Dosado was up 6-0 on her opponent, before getting her on her back for the pin. This all happened within the first two minutes of the match to make the team score 5-0.

Ashley Courtney followed suit in the 109-bout. She did not concede a single point in her match and was able to get multiple takedowns to win from a 10-0 tech fall. This stretched the team lead to 9-0.

The 116-weight class was also all UC, with Alexis Medina stepping to the mat. Medina barely wasted anytime on the mats. She was able to get one of the fastest pins of her season at just 1:30. This kept the shutout alive making the team score 14-0.

The Barons found their own rhythm, winning the next three straight matches. They racked up 13 points to make the score 15-13. UC earned one point since they scored in a decision loss.

Hailey Budney came in next to put Cumberlands back on winning ways at 143. She had a tough opponent in 16th ranked Migalys Ramos. They traded takedowns, but the resiliency of Budney prevailed to get Ramos on her back for the fall at 1:41. With just three matches to go, the Pats were now up 20-13.

Ariana Pereira dominated her match, getting multiple four-point throws and conceding just one point. Pereira secured the match with the 14-1 tech fall. The overall score was now 24-14.

Next up, #1 Dymond Guilford took on #11 Katelyn Lewis in the 170-match. Per usual, Guilford got out to a quick start with an early two-point takedown. She earned another takedown and three leg laces to win the match from a 10-0 tech fall in just 47 seconds. The dual was officially won by UC from a score of 28-14, but there was still one match to go.

Jesse Kirby kept the trend of fast matches and even had the quickest match of the day. In the 191-match, she landed a two-point takedown and hit an assassin to put her opponent on her back. This all happened in just 35 seconds for the fall win.

WWR Seniors

The Patriots won the dual 33-14. The win was extra special with the team hosting senior night to honor their seven seniors of Budney, Kaelynn Dougherty, Daniela Hechavarria, Guilford, Kirby, Medina, and Aliyah Yates.

With the regular season over, Cumberlands now shifts their focus to the MSC Championships. This will take place Friday, February 24 in Bowling Green, KY.
