Box Score Williamsburg, KY - The seventh-ranked Patriots women's tennis team looked dynamic during their home match against #24 SCAD-Atlanta. UC moves to 5-1 on the season as they defeat the Bees 6-1.
 
Doubles play began with the SCAD in the lead, as the number three duo of Hanna Blinouskaya and Nadia Brunslow took the match 6-3. Blinouskaya and Brunslow began by scoring three straight points, before Johanna Beckmann and Tessa Gray rallied to even the score 3-3. Following this, Blinouskaya and Brunslow took the final three points of the match.
 
Following this, the UC evened the score as Meiri Okuwaki and Mikaela Fros discarded Elizabeth Allen and Brissa Mendoza 6-1. After exchanging points, Cumberlands' #2 duo of Fan Shiau and Marina Nagai defeated Aarushi Kakkar and Begona Bejumeda to claim the doubles point, and give the Pats a 1-0 lead.
 
To begin singles play, Benjumeda took down Shiau, at #3 singles, in two tight sets of 7-5, evening the score 1-1. Following this, Nagai at #2 spot disposed of Blinouskaya in straight sets to give the Pats the 2-1 lead.
 
Right after this, Okuwaki extended the lead for UC by taking down the #1 singles player for the Bees, Kakkar in a commanding way, winning in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
 
The Patriots continued to pour it on from there winning all three of the final matchups of the day to earn their second straight win of the weekend. Catherine Rae played at #4 singles, where she controlled the match from the beginning and defeated Brunzlow in two 6-2 sets, clinching the match for Cumberlands. Beckmann followed suit by discarding Allen in a 6-1, 6-1 win. Fros finished the day for the Patriots by defeating Mendoza in straight sets of 6-1.
 
Cumberlands will be back to the courts on this weekend as they travel to open conference play against Bethel on Friday March 10th, before heading to Freed-Hardeman on Saturday the 11th.
