Williamsburg, KY – The Cumberlands women's swimming & diving team notched 11 wins and had six swimmers achieved NAIA provisional cuts as the Patriots defeated Asbury 165-92 in their first meet of the 2024 portion of their schedule.  The Patriots improve 6-0 in dual meets on the season.

UC opened the day with Madeline Barbee, Alicja Sedlak, Emilia Martinez Morales, and Anastasiia Shatalova teaming to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:56.16. 

Sedlak and Shatalova each posted an individual win and a provisional cut on the day.  Sedlak clocked a 1:02.41 to win the 100 back, while Shatalova went 24.81 in the 50 free.  Sedlak also took top honors in the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.78. 

Ashley Schoenlein achieved multiple provisional cuts on the day including winning the 200 free with a time of 2:02.96.  She also clocked a 2:19.46 in the 200 IM for her second cut of the meet.

Romina Itzkovich Sacco earned a pair of first place finishes in the distance free events.  The sophomore touched the wall in 5:33.70 for the 500 free after opening the day clocking an 11:36.44 in the 1,000 free.

Priscila Rodriguez Bolanos pulled away from the field to win the 100 breast by four seconds as she recorded a time of 1:09.03.  Kathryn Harrison took top honors in the 50 breast with a time of 32.70.

Notching the final individual win of the meet was Valentina Zapata Ceballos, who clocked a 2:14.10 to win the 200 IM.  The sophomore also anchored UC's 200 free relay with Itzkovich Sacco, Neyali Matos, and Celin Ullern that posted a winning time of 1:41.81.

The Patriots return to water on Saturday, January 20^th, when they host Milligan.  The meet is slated to begin at noon and prior to the start UC will be honoring their 2024 senior class.
