Williamsburg, KY – The #10 UC Men's Wrestling team took down the #5 Campbellsville Tigers in an exciting Mid-South Conference and Senior Night matchup and move to 4-0 in conference play. The Patriots ended the dual on top with a final score of 24-19 and were led by top scorers, #11
Adonis Boyd and
Chandlar Akins. The team recorded two technical falls, two major decisions, and two decisions.
The Patriots took a 5-0 lead with a 15-0 technical fall by #11
Adonis Boyd, in the 125-bout. The sophomore secured all his points in the first period over #7 Izaeah Beavers (Campbellsville), marking a 3-point takedown followed by three 4-point nearfalls.
In the 133-weight class,
Chandlar Akins extended Cumberlands' lead to 10-0 with a 20-4 technical fall at 6:16 against Caleb Thomas (Campbellsville). He scored two 3-point takedowns in the first period and earned an escape from the bottom and a 3-point takedown in the second. During the final period, Akins tallied three more 3-point takedowns and riding time to strengthen his win.
141 wrestler
Eli Peyton earned four points for UC and won over James Carmany (Campbellsville) in a major decision, 11-1. Despite no score in the first period, the sophomore fought for an escape, a 3-point takedown, and a 4-point nearfall in the second. He notched a 3-point takedown in the third period to claim the victory.
At 149-lbs, #4
Jace Luchau took the Patriots' lead to 17-0 with a tough 2-1 decision against Nick Moore (Campbellsville). There was a scoreless first period, but Luchau earned his points from an escape from the bottom in the second, followed by riding time in the third.
After a decision lost in the 157-weight class, #12
O'Brian Black scored four points for UC against #4 Shadrick Slone (Campbellsville). With tow 3-point takedowns and riding time in the first period, and an escape and 3-point takedown in the third, Black won in an 11-3 major decision.

Thomas Ketchen-Carter would be the last Patriot to score, in a 3-0 decision. He defeated Kiernan Sherwood (Campbellsville) in the 184-bout, marking a 3-point takedown in the first period and holding his opponent scoreless.
UC will travel to Columbia, KY and participate in the Blue Raider Open on Saturday January 27
th, with matches beginning at 10 a.m. ET.
