UC Women’s Swimming & Diving Rallied to Defeat Lindsey Wilson 150-121

The Patriots women's swimming & diving team rallied over the second half of the duel meet to defeat Lindsey Wilson 150-121 Saturday afternoon at the UC Aquatic Center.  UC posted seven individual wins and clipped 14 NAIA provisional cuts as they improve to 2-0 on the season.

Juliana Lopez Morales led the way for UC earning a pair of victories.  Lopez Morales opened the meet by clocking a season-best time of 10:41.64 in the 1000 free.  That time is the fastest time in the NAIA this season.  The freshman followed that up notching the second fastest time in the 500 free as she posted a winning time of 5:13.47.  Michelle Weiss touched the wall in 5:21.95 clipping the provisional cut.

Sarah Zoellner clocked a 59.27 to win the 100 fly with the third fastest time in the NAIA.  The sophomore also holds the fourth fastest time in the NAIA in the 200 fly as she finished in 2:13.71.  Filippa Malmstrom tallied a 2:19.66 to place third in that event.

The Patriots won both breaststroke events in the duel.  Moa Nyblom led UC to a one-two finish in the 200 breast as the freshman clocked a 2:28.96, as she edged out Ashley Schoenlein who clocked a 2:19.83.  Megan Schoenlein pulled away to win the 100 breast, touching the wall in 1:07.99.  That time ranks fifth in the NAIA.

Ashley Schoenlein followed up that performances by edging out Alicja Sedlak to win the 200 IM, 2:14.48 to 2:14.61 as both swimmers clipped the NAIA provisional cut.

Ugne Takuseviciute (2:00.09) and Sedlak (2:02.29) both clipped the NAIA provisional cut in the 200 free, while Kathryn Harrison went 1:09 to clip the provisional cut in the 100 breast.

Sage Howe earned the win one the one-meter diving board after recording a season-best score of 146.60.

In the final event of the night, the 400 free relay, Zoellner, Takuseviciute, Niska and Nyblom touched the wall in 3:42.60 to finish runner-up.

UC returns to the pool on Saturday, November 2, when they host Asbury.  The meet is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
