Williamsburg, KY – The Cumberlands women's swimming & diving improved to 3-0 on the season after recording 12 wins to defeat Asbury 181-68 Saturday afternoon at the Patriots Aquatic Center. UC had nine swimmers clip the NAIA Provisional cut in a meet that focused on sprint events.
Ugne Takuseviciute and
Alicja Sedlak led the way with a pair of individual wins each. Takuseviciute clocked a 25.74 to win the 50 free, before touching the wall in 5:19.57 to pull away from the field and take top honors in the 500 free.
Sedlak clocked a 54.34 to win the 100 free with a provisional cut time. The sophomore also led a trio of Patriots swimmers in the 400 IM, where she clocked a 4:42.55, which ranked fourth in the NAIA.
Ashley Schoenlein (4:52.81), posted the tenth fastest time in the NAIA, while
Judit Garreta Yuste placed third clipping the provisional cut with a time of 4:58.16.
Juliana Lopez Morales and
Michelle Weiss went one-two in the 200 free as they went 2:00.24 and 2:02.47, respectively.
UC won both backstroke events as
Sarah Zoellner clocked a 1:00.50 in the 100 back, while
Victoria Niska placed first in the 50 back touching the wall in 28.91.
Schoenlein clocked a 1:11.04 to win the 100 breast, while
Moa Nyblom went 31.51 to win the 50 breast.
Ximena Melendez Hernandez hit UC's final provisional cut of the day as she finished the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.26.
Making her Patriot debut,
Sage Lorentz notched 170.00 points to earn first on one-meter diving.
UC's relay team of
Addison Ringwald,
Megan Schoenlein, Zoellner, and
Kathryn Harrison opened the meet clocking a 52.44 to win the 100 medley relay.
Cumberlands returns to the pool on Friday, November 22
nd, when they travel to Danville, KY to take part in the Centre College Invite.
