Columbia, KY – The #4 Patriots Women's Wrestling team collected their first Mid-South Conference dual victory of the season over the #18 Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders, 27-19.
Opening the dual in the 103-weight class, No. 6 Dutchess King marked a 10-0 tech fall over Alyssa Archer in just 2:59. King used four, two-point takedowns to give UC a quick 4-0 advantage over the Blue Raiders.
Ashley Courtney followed up by notching a fall in 0:38 in the 110 bout over Jaelynn McIntosh for a 9-0 team advantage.
In the 117-weight class, Kaylin Taylor went head-to-head with Audrey Smith. Taylor used four, two-point takedowns to secure a 10-0 tech fall and give the Pats a 13-0 advantage.
The Blue Raiders managed to tack 10 points in the 124 and 131 bout, leaving the Patriots with a 13-10 lead. The Blue Raiders quickly took the lead after notching four points in the 138 and 145-weight class, seeing UC trail 18-13.
Cumberlands cut the deficit to 19-17 after No. 13 Sierra Mefford notched a 12-1 tech fall in 5:32 over Lexi Ritchie in the 160 bout.
A forfeit for No. 8 Saiheron Preciado-Meza (180-weight class) and a fall for No. 2 MaQuoia Bernabe reclaimed the lead for the Patriots. In the 207-weight class, Bernabe notched a fall in 0:32 over Alyssa Pinkston. She secured the victory after tacking on five points, for a final score of 27-19.
UC will travel to Emory, VA on Friday, December 13 to compete in the Wasp Open. Matches will commence at 8:00 a.m. (EST).
