Williamsburg, KY – To open up the dual season for the #4 Patriots Women's Wrestling program, the team faced tough competition, going 3-1 (Blue Squad) and 2-2 (Red Squad) at the Patriot Duals on day one of the competition. UC's blue squad finished first in their group and the red squad finished third in the group.

BLUE SQUAD | #4 CUMBERLANDS BREEZES PAST CAMPBELLSVILLE, 35-9
The Patriots opened their first dual of the day with Angelina Castenada, Dylan Hernandez, Cara Brown, and Sierra Mefford marking 20 points off forfeits. Presley Anderson, Mary Jane Porter, Lena Taylor, and Naomi Duenas each marked 10-0 tech falls over their opponents in their respective weight classes. Saiheron Preciado-Meza notched a fall in 0:29 in the 180 bout.

Lourdes marked their only points of the dual in the 110-weight class, giving UC a 41-4 victory.

Campbellsville marked nine total points in the 124-weight class and 145-wegiht class, leaving the Patriots victorious (35-9).
 
BLUE SQUAD | #4 CUMBERLANDS STOMPS LOURDES, 41-4
In their second dual of the day, UC went head-to-head with Campbellsville University's black squad. Dutchess King and Kaylin Taylor each recorded five points courtesy of forfeits. Shammilka Miranda, Porter, and Duenas each marked 10-0 tech falls over their opponents in their respective weight classes.

In the 138 bout, Annabelle Suto recorded a fall in 1:57 while Micah Fisher recorded a fall in 1:10 (180 bout). The 160-weight class saw Mefford mark a 3-0 decision.

BLUE SQUAD | #4 CUMBERLANDS FALLS SHORT AGAINST BLUE RAIDERS, 24-19
In their third dual of the day, Cumberlands started with Castaneda marking a 15-4 tech fall over her opponent for four points. In the 117 bout, Miranda marked an 11-3 decision over her opponent for three points to give UC an 8-5 advantage.

In the 131 bout, Porter recorded a decision (14-6) followed by Mefford in the 160-weight class with a fall in 1:47.

The Blue Raiders marked 24 points in the 110, 124, 138, 145, 180, and 207-weight class, leaving the Pats to fall just short (24-19).

BLUE SQUAD | #4 CUMBERLANDS DEFEATS EMMANUEL, 34-16
In their final dual of the day, UC King opened with a 14-4 tech fall over her opponent followed by Taylor with a fall in 1:13. Anderson and Porter made a mark, both recording falls in their respective weight classes. Anderson notched the fall in 5:07 while Porter notched the fall in 2:00.

In the final three weight classes of the dual, Fisher recorded a fall in 4:08 followed by Preciado-Meza with a fall in 4:16 and rounded out by Duenas with a fall in 1:35.

The Lions marked 16 points in the 117, 138, and 145-weight class, but was no match for the Patriots who walked away victorious (34-16).

RED SQUAD | #4 CUMBERLANDS BLANKED BY LIFE, 43-0
In their first dual of the day, the Patriots came up short against Life University's green squad. The Patriots fell, 43-0.

RED SQUAD | #4 CUMBERLANDS MISSES THE MARK AGAINST CAMPBELLSVILLE, 35-8
In their second dual of the day, UC missed the mark against Campbellsville University's maroon squad.

In the 160-weight class, Cierra Abrego marked a 9-2 decision over her opponent to mark three points. Destiny Marquez followed with a fall in 2:06 in the 207 bout to tally eight points for the Pats but was not enough (35-8).

RED SQUAD | #4 CUMBERLANDS TRUMPS LIBERTY, 33-11
In their third dual of the day, Cumberlands found success as Marquez, Elise Toste, Isabella Savage, Jaclyn Hodge, and Allyson Arrington marked points off forfeits.

In the 160-weight class, Abrego marked a close 6-4 decision over her opponent to notch three points for UC. Asia Fowler followed suit with a fall in 5:30 in the 138-weight class.

The Flames marked 11 points in the 145 and 180 bout but were unable to keep up with the Patriots (33-11).

RED SQUAD | #4 CUMBERLANDS NARROWLY EDGES SIENA HEIGHTS, 24-18
In their final dual of the day, the Pats narrowly edged past Siena Heights. Courtney and Savage opened the dual with forfeit victories over their opponents.

In the 131 bout, Arrington marked a fall in 0:49 to notch five points for Cumberlands. Abrego followed with a fall in 3:00 in the 160-weight class to notch another five points for UC. Lastly, in the 207 bout, Marquez recorded a 10-0 tech fall over her opponent.

Siena Heights marked 18 points in the 103, 124, 138, and 145-weight classes but the Pats remained victorious (24-18).

UC will return to the mats tomorrow, Saturday, December 7, for day two of the Patriot Duals inside the UC Volleyball Gym in Williamsburg, KY
