Portsmouth, OH – The Patriots women's swimming team closed out its 2024 portion of the schedule tallying 12 wins against Shawnee State Friday afternoon. The Patriots had ten different swimmers post wins in their respective individual event.

Ashley Schoenlein led the way for Cumberlands winning both of her individual events.  She opened the meet by pulling away from the field to win the 100 breast with a time of 1:19.53.  The senior followed that up by touching the wall in 29.26 to finish first in the 50 free.  

Megan Schoenlein also notched a pair of wins on the day.  The freshman went 1:04.41 to win the 100 free, before clocking a 2:34.03 to take top honors in the 200 IM.

The Patriots had four other freshman record wins on the day.  Moa Nyblom won the 200 free clocking a time of 2:27.06.  Victoria Niska and Ugne Takuseviciute won their respective distance free event as Niska won the 400 free (5:03.85) and Takuseviciute went 9:49.34 to win the 800 free.  Juliana Lopez Morales pulled away from the field to win the 200 fly by close to five seconds as she touched the wall in 2:47.90. 

Alicja Sedlak continues her strong sophomore campaign winning the 200 back with a time of 2:32.03.  Madeline Barbee touched the wall in 1:12.69 to win the 100 back. 

Capturing UC's final individual win of the meet was Judit Garreta Yuste, who won the 200 breast finishing with a time of 3:00.19.

The Patriots also won the 200 free relay. Abbey Richardson, Sarah Zoellner, Celin Ullern, and Sedlak teamed up to post a winning time of 1:56.02

UC returns to the pool on Saturday, January 4^th, when they travel to Milligan College, TN to face the Buffaloes with the meet scheduled to began at 11 a.m.
