Lawrenceville, GA – The Cumberlands women's tennis team fell to Our Lady of the Lake 4-2, to open the Georgia Gwinnett Open on Thursday afternoon.
The Saints secured the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead, after taking two of the three doubles matches.
Fan Shiau and
Marina Nagai picked up the lone win for the Pats in doubles, earning a dominant 6-0 victory over Sofia Gonzalez and Ana Ossio.
After the Saints garnered the first win in singles, the Pats earned a pair of wins to tie things up, 2-2.
Nagai and Shiau both continued their success on the day picking up identical 6-4, 6-0 wins in singles.
Nagai defeated Saskia Vogelzang at #2 singles, while Shiau defeated Ana Ossio at #3 singles.
The Saints won two more matches to secure the victory, while the last match went unfinished.
UC returns to action on Friday, as they face top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett.
