Williamsburg, KY – The #14 Patriots women's tennis team performed well on Saturday, to defeat the Milligan Buffaloes 5-2 at the UC Tennis Complex.
Milligan picked up the doubles point after notching two of the three doubles matches, taking the early 1-0 advantage.
Jirachavala Puckaporn and
Liu YuFang earned the lone doubles victory for UC, picking up a 6-2 win over Tiana Shelton and Lauren Wimmer at #3 doubles.
YuFang continued to see success, earning the first point for UC and tying the match at one. The Taiwan native earned a solid 6-1, 6-2 win over Marta Miralles at #2 doubles.
Marina Nagai put UC in front 2-1, after earning a win at #1 singles. The sophomore captured a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Kylie Enarson.
The Pats earned their third win in a row, courtesy of
Blanca Lopez. The freshman defeated Macy Kennedy 6-4, 6-4 at #3 singles to put the Pats up 3-1.
UC cemented the overall win with a
Fan Shiau victory at #4 singles. Shiau earned a dominant win in straight sets over Sophie Dunman 6-0, 6-1.
Jirachavala Puckaporn earned the final win of the day, defeating Trinity Fox 6-2, 6-3 at #6 singles to cement the 5-2 victory.
The Pats are back in action on Sunday, as they host the Pikeville Bears.
