Lebanon, TN – The #10 Patriots travelled to compete in their final Mid-South Conference dual of the season. UC dropped the dual 27-6 to #13 Cumberland in a tough battle for the regular season title. The Pats were led by #11
Adonis Boyd and #12
O'Brian Black, in their respective weight classes.
At 125, #11
Adonis Boyd secured the first win for Cumberlands. The sophomore notched a 3-point takedown in the first period, followed by a reversal from his opponent, Chris Busutil (Cumberland). Boyd fought for one more 3-point takedown and a 1-point penalty, taking a 7-3 decision for three points to UC.
In the 133-weight class,
Chandlar Akins fell in a 10-5 decision to #3 Sammy Shires (Cumberland). Akins tallied a 3-point takedown in the first period and two points for riding time in the third. Wrestling in the 141-bout,
Gage Hudson fell to #12 Jared Dinh (Cumberland) in a hard-fought 9-6 decision. He battled with 2-point riding time, an escape and a 3-point takedown. #4
Jace Luchau also had a near loss to #12 Jack Latimer (Cumberland). Luchau was unable to score after Latimer notched an escape and ride time in the third period. At 157, #17
Weston Milnes earned six points in the first period with a 3-point takedown, two escapes, a 1-point penalty, followed by two more escapes in the third. However, he fell in an 18-8 major decision to #16 Eli Clemmons (Cumberland).

O'Brian Black added three final points to Cumberlands' score in the 165-weight class. The junior defeated Cameron Nesbitt (Cumberland) with a 7-2 decision. After a scoreless first period, Black chose to begin the second period on the bottom, marking an escape and a 3-point takedown. He finished with a 3-point takedown in the third period to take the win.
In the 174-bout,
Sherman Dixon fell in a 12-3 major decision to #3 Cole Smith (Cumberland), after only notching a 3-point takedown in the first period. #16
Thomas Ketchen-Carter marked two escapes and 3-point takedown, but it was not enough, and he fell to Rocco Horvath (Cumberland) in a 10-5 decision. At 197,
Jovon Howe lost in a 9-1 major decision against Tyler Rowland, after earning one point for an escape. In the final bout,
Wylie Dunn fell in a close 5-1 decision to Kawaun Deboe, with a 1-point penalty in the first period.
UC will head to the Mid-South Conference Championship, hosted in Bowling Green, KY on Friday February 16
th.
