Box Score Williamsburg, KY – The #20 Cumberlands women's tennis team blanked the Centre Colonels 7-0 to close the weekend at the UC Tennis Complex.
The Patriots secured two of the three doubles matches to take the early 1-0 advantage.
Liu YuFang and
Jirachavala Puckaporn defeated Carlie Mitchell and Kennedy Herring 6-4 at #2 doubles, while
Eva Cancarevic and
Marina Nagai earned a win over Natalie Black and Sophie Maddux 6-0 at the #3 spot.
Nagai continued her successful day with a dominant win in singles play. The sophomore did not lose a game, defeating Grace Williams 6-0, 6-0 at the #1 spot to put UC up 2-0.
YuFang also picked up a singles win in straight sets, defeating Carlie Mitchell 6-4, 7-5 at the #3 spot, giving the Pats a 3-0 advantage.
Lucy Stojic battled back in her match at #2 singles to secure the victory for UC. After falling in the first set, Stojic responded with a 6-4 win in the next set. The final set saw Stojic earn a tough 7-5 win to seal the deal.
Carlota Verdu proved to have a strong showing at #6 singles, only dropping one game en route to a 6-1, 6-0 win.
The Pats secured the final two matches to cement the 7-0 win, with a pair of three-set victories.
Jirachavala Puckaporn defeated Natalie Black 6-7, 6-3, 10-3 at #4 singles, while
Skye Maclean earned a 1-6, 6-4, 11-9 win over Kennedy Herring at the #5 spot.
Cumberlands returns to action on Tuesday, March 12
th, as they host Pikeville at the UC Tennis Complex.
