Box Score Williamsburg, KY – The Patriots women's tennis team closed the week on a high note, defeating NCAA DII opponent, Davis & Elkins College 5-2 on Friday afternoon.

Cumberlands grabbed the early 1-0 lead, capturing two of the three doubles matches.

Liu YuFang and Jirachavala Puckaporn won at #2 doubles, defeating Wies Kerstholt and Liebe Oosthuizen 6-3. Marina Nagai and Eva Cancarevic also earned a victory at #3 doubles, taking down Karen Saucedo and Eloise Hutton 6-1.

Puckaporn continued her successful day with a dominant win to open singles play. The Thailand native did not lose a game, as she defeated Wies Kerstholt 6-0, 6-0 at #6 singles to put UC up 2-0.

Nagai earned the next singles victory at the #1 spot. The sophomore defeated Andrea Semeano 6-2, 6-0 to give the Pats a 3-0 advantage.

After the Senators took the next match to cut the deficit to 3-1, UC responded with their third singles win to secure the overall victory.

That win came at #5 singles where Eva Cancarevic defeated Karen Saucedo in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Liu YuFang earned the final win of the day for the Pats over Liebe Oosthuizen 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 at #3 singles, cementing the 5-2 victory for UC.

The Patriots return to action on Sunday, as they host the Centre Colonels at the UC Tennis Complex.
