Results
Danville, KY – The third-ranked Cumberlands women's swimming & diving team recorded nine races on the night as they earned a pair of wins defeating Centre 135.5-104.5, while notching an 185-45 win over Transylvania, Friday night. UC had six different swimmers post individual wins as the Pats closed out the night with one "A" cut and 22 NAIA provisional cuts.
Ugne Takuseviciute and
Juliana Lopez Morales each posted a pair of wins on the day. Takuseviciute opened the meet strong winning the 200 free with a season-best time of 1:55.16. The freshman followed that up by clocking a season-best time of 53.70 to win the 100 free.
Lopez Morales and
Michelle Weiss notched a one-two finish in both the 1000 free and 500 free. Lopez Morales touched the wall in 10:31.68 to win the 1000 free before clocking a 5:08.89 in the 500 free. Weiss went 11:02.32 AND 5:19.31, respectively, in those events. The duo also both clipped the NAIA provisional cut in the 200 free as Morales Lopez (1:59.55) edged out Weiss (2:01.78) for third place.
In addition to Takuseviciute,
Celin Ullern also notched a career-best time when she touched the wall in 24.01 to finished tied for first place in the 50 free. Kate Harrison went 25.21 to clip the provisional cut.
The Patriots had the top four finishers in the 100 breast with
Moa Nyblom earning the win with a 1:06.66.
Abbey Richardson edged out
Megan Schoenlein by 0.05 seconds for second place while Harrison was right behind at 1:06.83 for fourth.
Alicja Sedlak led a trio of Cumberlands swimmers in the 200 IM, finishing in 2:10.47.
Ashley Schoenlein (2:14.52) and Nyblom (2:15.02) also clipped the provisional cut.
Victoria Niska earned UC final individual win of the night as she clocked a 1:01.13 for the 100 back.
Addison Ringwald went 1:01.99 to placed fourth.
UC had a trio of Patriots clip the provisional cut in the 100 fly with
Filippa Malmstrom leading the way going 58.29.
Sarah Zoellner (58.32) and
Ximena Melendez Hernandez (1:00.58) also clipped the standard.
Cumberlands had a pair of competitors in diving as
Sage Lorentz notched a season-best score of 198.15 to clip the standard, while
Sage Howe scored a 163.05 to finish fourth.He
The Pats closed out the meet with Takuseviciute, Zoellner, Niska, and Ullern teaming up to win the 200 free relay with a time of 1:38.07.
UC returns to the pool tomorrow when they host Indiana Wesleyan for their regular season finale. The meet is slated to begin at 2 p.m. and the Patriots will honor their seniors prior to meet.
