Columbia, KY – The Patriots women's swimming & diving team tallied nine wins and clipped five NAIA provisional standards en route to a 163-93 win over Lindsey Wilson Saturday afternoon. With the win, Cumberlands improves to 2-0 on the season.
Ugne Takuseviciute, Juliana Lopez Morals, and
Helena Jarosz each posted a pair of individual wins on the day to lead the way for UC. Takuseviciute hit a pair of national cuts on the day beginning with the 200 free, where she clocked a 1:58.22 to clip the provisional standard. The sophomore followed that up, pulling away from the field to touch the wall in 54.59 in the 100 free.
Lopez Morales continued her strong start to the season excelling in the distance events. The sophomore won the 1000 free, clocking a 10:42.84. Lopez Morales followed that up with a 5:17.33 to win the 500 free and hit a NAIA provisional cut. Teammate
Bella Hoare finished right behind clocking a provisional standard of 5:18.84.
Freshman
Helena Jarosz notched a 2:12.51 to pull away from the field and win the 200 IM by six seconds with a provisional cut. Jarosz followed that up with a win in the 200 breast clocking a 2:28.97.
Aleksandra Chmielews took top honors in the 200 back with a time of 2:14.12. The freshman followed that up with a provisional cut (2:00.69) in the 200 free.
Capturing the Patriots final individual win was
Sarah Zoellner, who clocked a 2:16.47 to win the 200 fly.
In the final event of the day, the 200 free relay, Takuseviciute,
Victoria Niska,
Kathryn Harrison, and Chmielewska teamed up to post a winning time of 1:42.40.
UC returns to the water Friday, October 31, when they travel to Greencastle, IN to face DePauw University in a two-day meet. The meet is set to begin at 5 p.m.
