Cumberlands Women's Wrestling Completes Day 1 of Patriot Duals

Williamsburg, KY – The #8 Patriots Women's Wrestling program opened day one of the Patriot Duals against tough competition, going 4-2 in their home competition. 

Cumberlands 44-3 Lourdes 

The Patriots opened their first dual of the day with Dutchess King, Sarina Gunn, Elise Toste, and Karla Padilla-Zepeda marking 20 points off forfeits. Presley Anderson and Giselle Mendez each marked 4-0 tech falls over their opponents in their respective weight classes. Kaitlin Castro notched a fall in 1:05 in the 124 bout, Ariyanah Parson in 1:11 in the 138 bout, and Alivia Ming in just 0:51 in the 145 bout.  

Lourdes marked their only points of the dual in the 180-weight class, giving UC a 44-3 victory. 

Cumberlands 41-4 Lincoln Memorial 

In their second dual of the day, Sarina GunnSaiheron Preciado-Meza, and Naomi Duenas each recorded five points courtesy of forfeits. Dutchess King, Amaria Ridgner, Oriyana Castex, and Genesis Gilmore each marked 4-0 tech falls over their opponents in their respective weight classes. 

In the 117 bout, Kaylin Taylor recorded a fall in 0:50 while Micah Miller recorded a fall in 1:13 in the 160 bout. 

LMU marked four total points in the 124-weight class, leaving the Patriots victorious 41-4. 

Cumberlands 15-30 Lindsey Wilson Black 

In their third dual of the day, UC went head-to-head with Lindsey Wilson University's black squad. Cumberlands saw Dutchess King record a 4-0 tech fall to give the Patriots an early lead. The Blue Raiders responded quickly with three 4-0 tech falls, and a 3-0 decision to take the lead. Trailing 25-6, Preciado-Meza recorded a fall in 3:42 in the 180 bout, but the Blue Raiders ultimately defeated the Patriots with another fall for a 30-15 result.  

Cumberlands 16-28 Life University Black 

The Eagles struck early with two 3-1 decisions, a 4-0 tech fall, and a fall to develop a 15-1 lead. Amaria Ridgner stuck back by marking three points for the Patriots in a 3-1 decision over her opponent. The Eagles regained pace with a 4-0 tech fall and a 3-1 decision.  

Miller and Preciado-Meza marked 10 points off forfeits, but the Patriots ultimately succumbed to the Eagles 28-16. 

Cumberlands 31-16 Montreat 

In their fifth dual of the day, the Patriots dominated with Gunn marking the fall in 1:21 in the 110 bout, Castex in 4:03 in the 138 bout, Miller in 1:19 in the 160 bout, and Padilla in 1:20 in the 207 bout. Ming and Preciado-Meza also recorded tech falls and Ridgner earned a 3-0 decision.  

Montreat marked three falls against the Patriots to finalize the score at 31-16.  

Cumberlands 44-4 Liberty 

In the Patriots' last match of the day, King and Gunn opened with 5 points each off forfeits. Kaylin Taylor set the standard by marking the fall in 4:41 to put the Patriots ahead 15-0. Liberty returned with a 4-0 tech fall to retain their sole points of the dual. P Anderson earned a 4-0 tech fall while Parson, Ming, and Mendez all marked falls.  

The matches concluded with Preciado-Meza and Padilla earning points off forfeits for a final score of 44-4.  

UC will return to the mats tomorrow, Saturday, December 6, for day two of the Patriot Duals inside the UC Volleyball Gym in Williamsburg, KY
