Men Finish Weekend with Two More National Standards

LOUISVILLE, KY – The Patriots turned in a strong all-around performance on Saturday at the Commonwealth Collegiate Opener, highlighted by a national A standard from Tavon Davis, a B standard from the 4x400-meter relay, and multiple event wins across the sprint and distance groups.
 
Davis produced the top mark of the day in the 600 meters, charging through the field to win the event in 1:19.15. His time surpassed the NAIA A standard and set a new meet record, giving UC its first top-level qualifier of the competition.
 
UC added a national B standard to close out the meet as the 4x400-meter relay of Davis, Roy Miller, Noah Kincade, and Travion Dotson combined to run 3:17.19. Their performance finished under the NAIA B cut and secured the relay victory.
 
Miller picked up another win for the Patriots in the 400 meters, controlling the race from start to finish and crossing the line in 49.55. Grayson Rahbany followed with a third-place finish in 51.38, while David Newton added a fifth-place result in 51.84. Nate Case also contributed with a 52.07 showing to close out a strong group effort in the event.
 
The Patriots dominated the 1000 meters as Caden Cull earned the win in 2:31.41. Hugo Massa followed with a second-place finish in 2:34.24, and Nathan Wagner placed fourth in 2:38.25 to give UC three athletes among the top four.
 
In the 3000 meters, Hauke Trost led from the front and pulled away late to capture the event title in 8:33.40. Marius Maupoux added a fourth-place finish with a time of 8:56.37, while Tammo Doerner was unable to complete the race.
 
The sprint group opened the meet with three entries in the 60-meter dash. Aarontae Wesley led UC with a time of 6.98, followed closely by Lebron Williams at 7.07 and Jermaine Thompson at 7.23. In the hurdles, Zion Pruitt crossed the line in 8.56, while Tanner Tumey followed with an 8.81 finish as both athletes scored valuable points.
 
UC added four competitors in the 200 meters, where Wesley and Williams once again posted identical times of 22.29. Kincade added a 22.43 finish, and Tumey concluded the event for UC with a 24.19 performance.
 
In the 800 meters, Jackson Lowe represented the Patriots with a fourth-place finish in 1:59.47.
 
The field events saw continued strength from the Patriots. Nathan Goodin cleared 1.90 meters to place third in the high jump, while Sincere Irvin led UC in the long jump with a mark of 6.42 meters.
 
In the pole vault, Zach Lawson cleared 4.16 meters to finish ninth. The throws group added more depth as Dratavyn Barber placed fourth in the shot put at 12.65 meters, while Byron Collier threw 10.07 meters. In the weight throw, Austin Meacham reached 12.91 meters, with Collier adding an 11.68 mark and Barber finishing with a toss of 10.24 meters.
 
This will round out the 2025 campaign for the Pats. They will return to action in the new year as they are set to compete at the 2026 Rod McCravy Memorial in Louisville, KY on January 9th and 10th.
