UC Men’s Swimming & Diving Breaks Conference Record to Capture Seventh Straight MSC Title

Danville, KY – For the second consecutive year the Patriots men's swimming & diving team broke the conference record as they recorded 978 points to capture their seventh straight Mid-South Conference Championships Saturday night at the Centre Aquatic Center.  UC recorded four wins on the night, while Ruthiik Satti was named the 2025 MSC Swimmer of the Year.

Satti closed out his championship by pulling away from the field and winning the 200 back with a time of 1:48.71.  That time is the fourth fastest in the NAIA and it marked his third individual win of the meet.  The junior becomes the fourth straight Patriot swimmer to earn MSC Swimmer of the Year and fifth in program history.

Marcelo Rojas notched his third individual win of the championship as he touched the wall in 1:49.53 to win the 200 fly.  That time is the second fastest time in the NAIA this season.  Teammates Zsombor Bene (1:49.97) and Juan Ramirez Zapata (1:50.02) completed the podium sweep as they finished second and third, respectively.

For the second straight year Agustin Rasche finished atop the podium in the 100 free, this time clocking a 44.96.  Mateus Cruz went 46.08 to edge out teammate Arda Mutlu (46.33) for fourth place.  Elijah Henry went 48.33 to win the consolation final.

Finals opened with Sergio Saldamanado Martinez earning all-conference honors in the 1650 free after touching the wall in 16:03.41.  Will Gilbert clocked a 16:31.43 to place fifth overall.

UC had a trio of finalist in the 200 breast led by Jeremiah Koenig, who notched a runner-up finish clocking a 2:03.34.  Leon Irmer (2:04.30) and Nikita Konovets (2:04.66) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Jan Lucow garnered third team all-conference honors after touching the wall in 1:53.21 in the 200 back.  Creed Farthing was one spot back as he clocked a 1:54.24 to place fourth.

In the final event of the meet, the 400 free relay, Cruz, Satti, Rasche, and Mutlu teamed up for a winning time of 3:01.96.  That time is the fourth fastest time in the NAIA this season.

Cumberlands will now set their sights on the NAIA National Championships March 5-8 in Elk Hart, IN.
