Ypsilanti, MI – The Patriots cheerleading team competed in the preliminary round of the 9th annual NAIA National Championship on Friday. UC earned a score of 84.70 to put them in tenth place heading into the final round of competition tomorrow.  

The preliminary round began at 6:30 p.m., with the Pats taking the mat at 6:50 p.m. Their score of 84.70 will count towards 25% of their total score, with the finals round accounting for 75% of their total score. 

"I am very happy with how the team performed today. We had zero deductions, which is always the goal, and they performed their hearts out," said Head Coach R.J. Conroy.  

St. Ambrose is seated at the top after the first round with a score of 97.10. Dickinson State earned a score of 94.97 and Oklahoma City with a 92.83 to round out the top three.  

The finals round will take place on Saturday, March 29, with the first team slated to perform at 2:00 p.m.
