Huntsville, AL - The fourth-ranked UC men's cross country team placed 21st out of 48 teams at the Southern Showcase on Friday morning. The Patriots tallied 572 points in a highly competitive field that featured 459 runners from primarily NCAA Division I and II programs in the 8K race.
Leading UC was Julius Makinen, who finished 78th overall with a time of 24:58.8, a mark that ranks among the top 15 all-time finishers in Cumberlands history.
Close behind was Ishak Mekideche, placing 92nd with 25:06.0, followed by Niklas Scherb, who came in 136th with a 25:23.4 finish.
Noah Loeser and Ryan Ehrler rounded out the Patriots' top five, finishing back-to-back in 154th and 156th. Loeser clocked 25:39.3, while Ehrler crossed at 25:40.1.
Also competing for UC were Casey DeSilvey and Sean Crady, who crossed nearly together in 176th and 178th with times of 25:47.6 and 25:48.2, respectively.
UC will be back in action on Saturday, October 4th at the Greater Louisville Classic hosted by the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky.
