Huntsville, AL – The UC women's cross country team placed 29th out of 52 teams at the Southern Showcase on Friday morning. The Patriots scored 863 points in a deep field of 480 runners from primarily NCAA Division I and II programs in the 5K race.
Leading the way for UC was Lea Kunstmann, who finished 141st overall with a time of 18:29.6, a mark that ranks among the top 15 all-time finishers in Cumberlands history.
Close behind was Brynn Poulson, who crossed in 161st with a time of 18:37.2. Her performance was nearly 20 seconds faster than her race two weeks ago, while also ranking within the Patriots' top 15 all-time.
Elisa Helferich was the next Patriot across the line, placing 192nd in 18:52.0, followed by Tigist Bergman, who finished 224th with a time of 19:08.5.
Rounding out UC's top five was Heather Durrant, who placed 255th overall, clocking 19:25.2.
Also competing for the Patriots were Anslee Crosby and Clayra Darnell. Crosby finished 296th in 19:47.8, while Darnell came in 308th with a time of 19:58.4.
UC will be back in action on Saturday, October 4th at the Greater Louisville Classic hosted by the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky.
