LOUISVILLE, KY – The Patriots wrapped up competition at the Rod McCravy Memorial on Saturday with several strong performances across the middle distances, sprints, field events, and relays as UC continued to test itself against top-level competition.
Cumberlands added multiple entries in the 800 meters.
Hugo Massa led the group by placing eighth with a time of 1:54.91.
Jackson Lowe followed in 2:00.86, while
Lucas Hollinden crossed the line in 2:01.65 and
Nathan Wagner added a 2:04.04 finish to round out UC's efforts in the event.
UC opened the day on the track in the 300 meters, where
David Newton ran 36.46 to place 27th overall.
Lebron Williams followed in 38.70 as both sprinters gained valuable experience in a deep field.
In the mile, Kyle Crady represented the Patriots with a time of 4:26.78, competing in a fast section stacked with nationally ranked runners.
UC's throws group was active in both events on day two. In the shot put,
Jelle Golbach led the Patriots with a mark of 11.55 meters, followed by
Seth Massie at 10.98 meters. The weight throw closed out the field events as
Byron Collier recorded a mark of 10.80 meters. UC added two competitors in the shot put as Golbach posted a mark of 11.55 meters, followed by Massie at 10.98 meters.
The day concluded with two Patriot relay squads competing in the 4x400 meters. Cumberlands "A" relay team finished with a time of 3:19.53 while a second UC relay squad of
Zion Pruitt,
David Newton,
Jordan Afolayan, and Golbach crossed the line in 3:29.90.
The Patriots will now turn their focus forward to next week where they will be right back in Louisville, KY for the Bellarmine University Open.
