WILLIAMSBURG, KY – The Patriots closed out the PNC Lenny Lyles Invite on Saturday with multiple national A standards and strong depth across the sprints, distance events, and relays on day two of the meet.
UC produced its top performances of the day in the mile run, where two Patriots cleared the NAIA A standard.
Hauke Trost led the way by running 4:08.36, while
Ishak Mekideche followed closely with a time of 4:08.78 to give Cumberlands two A-standard performances in the event. Both times represent the second and third fastest marks in the NAIA this season.
Ryan Ehrler also competed in the mile and finished in 4:12.47, followed by
Niklas Scherb at 4:16.08, Casey Desilvey in 4:20.47,
Kyle Crady at 4:21.76,
Sean Crady in 4:24.14, and
Victor Carpeggiani at 4:24.70.
Linus Schaller rounded out the group with a time of 4:41.27.
The Patriots added another national standard in the 4x400-meter relay, where the quartet of
Tavon Davis,
Jermaine Thompson,
Noah Kincade, and Edwin Van Wyk combined to run 3:16.23. The performance capped the meet on the track and stood as one of the top relay marks of the weekend.
UC also advanced multiple athletes into the semifinal rounds of the sprint events. In the 60 meters,
Lebron Williams ran 6.87,
Aarontae Wesley crossed the line in 6.94,
Jordan Afolayan ran 6.98, and
Jermaine Thompson finished in 7.03.
The Patriots also competed in the 60-meter hurdles semifinals, where
Zion Pruitt ran 8.65 and
Tanner Tumey followed closely with a time of 8.68.
UC's multi-event group continued action in the heptathlon high jump, where
Jelle Golbach cleared 1.91 meters to place fifth overall, while
Seth Massie followed with a clearance of 1.85 meters.
The Pats will return next weekend where they will head south to Alabama for the UAB Green and Gold Invite.
