Williamsburg, KY – The 13th-ranked University of the Cumberlands Men's Wrestling team opened their home conference slate with authority Monday evening, defeating (RV) Georgetown College 39-10 inside the UC Volleyball Gym. The Patriots won eight of ten contested bouts, earning five bonus-point wins — including three falls and two major decisions — to improve to 2-0 in Mid-South Conference action.
The dual opened at 125, where
Elijah Valencia got the Patriots on the board with a 7-3 decision over Wyatt Payne. #20
Riley Bettich followed that up with a strong performance at 133, earning a fall at 4:08 over Richie Patanjo to give UC a 9-0 lead.
Georgetown responded with a fall at 141, but
Ty Lehman extended the lead again with an 11-2 major decision over Ethan Kessinger at 149. In the 157 match, Marc Le Gaspe notched the first of three straight pins for UC, putting Dalton Minnick on his back at 4:49.

Rider Trumble followed with a fall of his own in 4:10 over Sam Daniels at 165, and #24
Derrick Bannister kept the momentum going at 174 with an 11-2 major decision over Jackson Burger.
Georgetown picked up four points with a major decision at 184, but
Caden Brewer answered with a 14-0 major at 197 over #16 Matthew Cael Green. Trey White sealed the dual in the heavyweight bout with a win by injury default over Luke Cox just 1:08 into the first period.
Cumberlands will return to the mat on Friday, January 9th as they travel to Waterloo. IA for the NAIA National Duals. First whistle is set for 10 a.m. ET.
