Bowling Green, KY – Following a record-setting performance at the NAIA Appalachian Challenge, Luca Madeo was named the Mid-South Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.

The Baden-Württemberg, Germany native placed second overall in the 249-runner field, completing the 8K course in 23:33.4. His time set a new Cumberlands program record in the 8K.

Madeo's performance helped lead the top-ranked Patriots to the team title with 22 points. Cumberlands placed four runners inside the top five and all five scorers inside the top eight en route to the victory.

The Junior earns his first MSC Runner of the Week honor of the season and becomes the third Patriot to receive the award this year.

Madeo and the Patriots return to competition on Friday, November 6, at the Mid-South Conference Championships in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
