UC Dominates Multiple Meets in Final Weekend Before MSC Championships

BOSTON, MA – The University of the Cumberlands men's track & field team competed across three meets this weekend including the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational, the Music City Challenge, and the Centre Indoor Invitational and Multis, highlighted by one NAIA A standard, three NAIA B standards, and four top-four marks in the national rankings.
 
Luca Madeo led the way with an NAIA A standard in the 5000m at Boston University, clocking 14:14.38 to record the No. 4 time in the NAIA this season. The Patriots also produced three NAIA B standards over the weekend, including Luban Haque in the 200m (21.27, No. 4 NAIA), Ryan Ehrler in the 1000m (2:26.90, No. 3 NAIA), and Hauke Trost in the 1000m (2:26.97, No. 4 NAIA). UC's multis also posted solid performances with a pair of top-15 marks as well.
BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational
Competing against one of the deepest distance fields in the country, the Patriots turned in several strong performances in Boston.
 
Madeo's 14:14.38 in the 5000m not only secured the NAIA A standard, but currently ranks fourth in the nation. In the 1000m, Ryan Ehrler (2:26.90) and Hauke Trost (2:26.97) each hit the NAIA B standard, posting the No. 3 and No. 4 times in the NAIA, respectively.
 
Hugo Massa added a solid 1:53.64 in the 800m, while Ishak Mekideche ran 8:17.78 in the 3000m. Niklas Scherb (8:28.77) and Noah Loser (8:30.63) also competed in the 3000m, with Casey Desilvey closing out the weekend with a 15:18.03 effort in the 5000m.
 
Music City Challenge
The Patriots saw success on the track in Nashville, highlighted by Haque's breakout performance in the 200m. The freshman crossed in 21.27 to finish second overall and record the No. 4 mark in the NAIA this season, earning the B standard.
 
EdDIE Van Wyk followed with a 22.50, while Zion Pruitt added a 23.04. Pruitt also competed in the 400m, posting a time of 51.29.
 
In the 60m, Haque advanced through prelims with a 6.95, while the Patriots also saw multiple athletes compete across the sprints.
 
The middle-distance group turned in several competitive efforts in the 800m. Victor Carpeggiani led the way for UC in 1:54.31, followed closely by Kyle Crady (1:54.99) and Max Young (1:55.02). Maddox Knight (1:57.68), Lucas Hollinden (1:58.08), Reed Richardson (1:59.12), Nathan Wagner (2:01.37), Jackson Lowe (2:02.39), and Tammo Doerner (2:03.46) rounded out the Patriot entries.
 
Reed Richardson also posted a 1:22.59 in the 600m, with Nathan Wagner (1:24.78), Lucas Hollinden (1:24.81), and Jackson Lowe (1:25.05) competing in the event.
 
In the mile, Ben Beilfuss recorded a 4:30.29 effort.
 
The distance crew added depth in the 3000m, led by Sean Crady (8:51.59) and Noah McClellan (8:54.52).
 
Centre Indoor Invitational and Multis
At Centre College, the Patriots were led by freshman Mark Lawin, who captured the heptathlon title with 5,061 points. Lawin won the shot put (13.78m), 60m hurdles (8.69), and pole vault (4.45m), while also finishing second in the long jump (6.74m) and scoring consistently across all seven events. His finish ranks seventh in the NAIA thi season.
 
Seth Massie placed second overall in the heptathlon with 4,921 points, highlighted by wins in the 60m (7.12) and long jump (6.94m). His score sits 11th in the NAIA this year.
 
In the field events, Tristen Knox placed second in the long jump with a mark of 6.96m, while Nathan Goodin finished fourth at 6.74m. Sincere Irvin added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump at 13.32m.
 
Zach Lawson cleared 4.15m in the pole vault to tie for third and also competed in the long jump.
 
On the track, Marius Maupoux recorded a 9:19.40 performance in the 3000m.
 
The Patriots will return to action Tuesday in Louisville, Ky., for the Mid-South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.
