Jackson, TN – The #7-ranked University of the Cumberlands men's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Friday afternoon, sweeping Freed-Hardeman University 7-0. With the win, the Patriots improve to 7-3 on the season.
At No. 1 doubles, Darius Kuster and Gabriele Solda earned a convincing 6-2 victory. The No. 2 duo of Jacopo Cianfarini and Mohammed Abuzed Saber followed with a 6-4 decision, while Manuel Fernandez Guede and Kesia Roi sealed the point at No. 3 doubles with a 6-3 win to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead.
In singles play, the Patriots continued their strong form, claiming all six matches. Jacopo Cianfarini battled through the most competitive match of the day at No. 1 singles. After taking the opening set 6-2, he dropped the second 2-6 before responding emphatically with a 6-0 third-set victory to secure the point.
At No. 2 singles, Darius Kuster posted a 6-5, 6-2 win, while Gabriele Solda handled his opponent 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 3 position. Thibaud Vivier dominated at No. 4 singles with a 6-0, 6-3 victory. Kesia Roi added a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5, and Mohammed Abuzed Saber capped the sweep with a 6-3, 6-1 performance at No. 6 singles.
The Patriots are back on the court on Thursday, March 5, with a home match against Jacksonville State. The first serve is slated for 1:00 PM.
