Marion, IN – The University of the Cumberlands cheer team wrapped up a strong weekend at the Indiana Wesleyan University Invite, rebounding from a challenging opening day to capture a victory on day two inside Luckey Arena.

Cumberlands opened the competition Saturday afternoon facing a deep field that included Indiana Wesleyan, Taylor, and Spring Arbor. Due to injury, the Patriots were forced to completely rework their routine less than 24 hours before taking the mat. UC posted a score of 81.0 in day one competition, despite four deductions, finishing just behind Spring Arbor (82.1) and ahead of Florida Memorial (80.2). Indiana Wesleyan led the field with a 92.0, followed by Taylor's 87.6.

"Execution is the name of the game," said Head Coach RJ Conroy. "We need to execute skills better to find success."

The Patriots regrouped overnight and showed marked improvement in Sunday's competition. Cumberlands delivered a much sharper performance in day two, earning a score of 89.4 to take first place. Indiana Wesleyan followed closely with an 88.5, while Spring Arbor rounded out the top three with an 88.2.

The day two victory highlighted the team's resilience and adaptability, as UC responded to early adversity with composure and improved execution across the routine.

Cumberlands returns to the mat on Saturday, February 14, when they travel to Mid South Conference opponents, Georgetown.
