Harrogate, TN – The No. 8 University of the Cumberlands men's tennis team continued its strong early-season form with a commanding 5–0 victory over Carson-Newman Saturday afternoon at the LMU Indoor Tennis Facility.
The Patriots jumped ahead early by securing the doubles point. Darius Kuster and Gabriele Solda edged Louis Keenan and Max Stollecker, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles, while Manuel Fernandez Guede and Thibaud Vivier delivered a decisive 6–3 win over Wade Donovan and Giancarlo Rosario at No. 3 to clinch the point. No. 2 doubles was left unfinished with Cumberlands leading.
Cumberlands carried the momentum into singles play, taking four straight matches to seal the sweep. Darius Kuster earned a straight-set win at the top spot, defeating Leonard Baecker 6–1, 6–4. Gabriele Solda followed with a 6–4, 6–3 victory at No. 3, and Kesia Roi secured the clinching point with a 6–1, 6–2 win at No. 5.
Mohammed Abuzed Saber capped off the scoring with a dominant 6–2, 6–0 triumph at No. 6 singles. Matches at No. 2 and No. 4 were left unfinished once the Patriots secured the team victory.
UC will be back on the courts on February 13, where they will travel to Rome, GA to compete in the ITA/NAIA National Indoor Tournament.
