Williamsburg, KY – The #13 University of the Cumberlands women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Friday afternoon, sweeping RV Bethel (Tenn.) 7-0 at the UC Tennis Complex to improve to 13-4 on the season. 

The Patriots jumped out to an early lead by securing the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. The duo of Mahiro Hara and Yu-Fang Liu set the tone with a commanding 6-0 victory at #1 doubles, while Bryndis Rosa and Marina Nagai matched that effort with a 6-0 win at #3 doubles. Bethel's lone doubles victory came at the #2 position, but it wasn't enough to overcome Cumberlands' early advantage. 

In singles play, Cumberlands continued to control the match, winning all six courts to complete the sweep. Marina Nagai battled through a three-set thriller at #1 singles, rallying for a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (8-2) victory. Victoria Zarate also earned a hard-fought win at #2 singles, edging her opponent in three sets 7-5, 6-7 (4-8), 6-3. 

Haruna Kojima and Mahiro Hara each cruised to straight-set victories at #3 and #4 singles, respectively, both winning in dominant fashion. Yu-Fang Liu added another point in a tightly contested match at #5 singles, pulling out a 6-1, 3-6, 10-8 win in the super tiebreak. Eva Cancarevic rounded out the sweep with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory at #6 singles. 

The Patriots are back on the court on Sunday, April 12, where they will travel to Tennessee Wesleyan for their final regular season match of the year. The first serve is slated for 1:00 PM.
