Bowling Green, KY – The University of the Cumberlands women's tennis team earned major recognition from the Mid-South Conference, highlighted by Marina Nagai being named Player of the Year to lead a group of five Patriots honored for their standout performances this season.
Nagai headlined the selections with both Player of the Year honors and a spot on First Team All-Conference. Competing at No. 1 singles, she dominated conference play with a perfect 6-0 record, while also going 5-0 at No. 3 doubles, establishing herself as one of the most consistent and impactful players in the league.
Cumberlands continued to showcase its depth with four additional athletes earning Second Team All-Conference honors. Mahiro Hara delivered a strong campaign in the middle of the singles lineup, posting a 5-1 conference record, while also contributing at No. 1 doubles with a 4-1 mark.
Haruna Kojima added balance to the lineup, competing in the middle of singles play and finishing 4-2 in conference matches, while going 3-2 at No. 2 doubles.
YuFang Liu was dominant at the bottom of the singles lineup, going a perfect 6-0 in conference play, and added a 4-1 record at No. 1 doubles, giving the Patriots consistency from top to bottom.
Victoria Zarate contributed across multiple positions, playing No. 2 and No. 3 singles and compiling a 4-1 conference record, while also going 3-2 at No. 2 doubles.
With five total All-Conference selections, including the conference's top individual honor, the Patriots demonstrated exceptional depth and consistency throughout the lineup, solidifying their position as one of the top teams in the Mid-South Conference.
UC opens action as the 2-seed at the MSC Tournament on Friday, April 17 against the 7-seed Georgetown (Ky.). The first serve is slated for 1:00 PM CT in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
