LOUISVILLE, KY – The University of the Cumberlands men's track & field team continued competition at the Clark Wood Invitational with strong performances in the sprints, middle distance, and multis.
In the decathlon,
Mark Lawin led the way with a fourth-place finish totaling 7,051 points. This currently ranks third in the NAIA this season. Lawin's performance included marks of 10.99 in the 100 meters, 6.90 meters in the long jump, 14.89 meters in the shot put, 1.82 meters in the high jump, and 52.53 in the 400 meters. He added a 15.49 in the 110-meter hurdles, 44.94 meters in the discus, 4.50 meters in the pole vault, 42.05 meters in the javelin, and a 5:14.29 in the 1500 meters.
Seth Massie also turned in a strong showing, finishing sixth overall with 6,464 points, another top-10 mark in the NAIA. Massie recorded marks of 10.76 in the 100 meters, 7.08 meters in the long jump, 11.37 meters in the shot put, and 1.82 meters in the high jump. He added a 50.74 in the 400 meters, 16.15 in the hurdles, 27.33 meters in the discus, 4.00 meters in the pole vault, 43.52 meters in the javelin, and 5:13.46 in the 1500 meters.
Jermaine Thompson led the Patriots in the 200 meters, placing eighth with a time of 21.26.
Roy Miller followed closely behind in 11th at 21.31, a personal-best performance, while
Noah Kincade ran 21.47.
Jordan Afolayan added a time of 21.84.
The 400m hurdles featured
Zion Pruitt as UC's lone competitor. The junior clocked a 54.36 for 10
th overall.
A large group competed in the 800 meters, led by
Sean Crady who placed 20th in 1:54.92.
Niklas Scherb followed in 30th with a time of 1:55.78, while
Caden Cull ran 1:55.97 to place 32nd.
Reed Richardson recorded a time of 1:58.83, with
Maddox Knight finishing in 2:00.01.
Jackson Lowe posted a season-best 2:00.61, and
Nathan Wagner ran 2:02.54.
Cumberlands will continue competition tomorrow for the final day of the Clark Wood Invitational.
