Supplement, Tobacco, and Alcohol Statement
Nutritional Supplements
Nutritional supplements are NOT regulated by the FDA. Hence, their purity is NOT guaranteed. Even though the main ingredients listed on the container may not be banned by the NAIA, NCAA, USOC, USADA, or IOC, it does not mean that the supplement will not cause a positive drug test. Anyone who is taking dietary, exercise, or performance related supplements do so at their own risk. Any positive drug tests due to supplement use are considered valid and subject to UC Drug Testing Policies and Procedures. Therefore it is the position of the University of the Cumberlands Department of Athletic Training, that all athletes participating in a NAIA sanctioned sports choosing to use a supplement should follow only the specific manufacturer's directions in the administration of said supplement and understand that by using the supplement by other means could lead to a positive drug test.

It is the policy of the University of the Cumberlands Department of Athletic Training to support and follow all NAIA policies and procedures. No tobacco products of any kind will be allowed in or near athletic training facilities. Offenders are subject to policies set in the UC Athletic Training Room Policies and Procedures Manual.
Alcohol
The NAIA bans all alcohol consumption and advertising at all practices and events sponsored by the NAIA (see above insert). The University of the Cumberlands also has a zero tolerance policy in regards to the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages and the punishments for such offenses are listed in the University of the Cumberlands Student Handbook. Offenders are also subject to policies set in the UC Athletic Training Room Policies and Procedures Manual as well as possible disciplinary actions administered by the athlete's coach(es).
