University of the Cumberlands Athletics

DeShawn Marshall, Jr. a native of Columbus, Ohio joined the University of the Cumberlands as an Assistant Coach with the Patriots Track & Field program September 2021.

Prior to UC, Coach Marshall had a one year stint at Florida A&M University where he was an Assistant Coach for the Rattlers. 

Coach Marshall attended the Indiana Institute of Technology, Fort Wayne Indiana before transferring to The Ohio State University in 2014 and earning a Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Ecology with Specialization in Sports Industry, Minor in Business Communication 2017. He recently earned a Level 2 certification for USTFCCCA Sprints/Hurdles/Relay Coach.

Marshall's collegiate career was highlighted with two NAIA National Championships in the 400m, an Indoor NCAA All-American in the 200m, and  Outdoor NCAA All-American in the 200m, 4x100, and 4x400. He is Ohio State's all condition fastest 100m runner ever (10.05), and was the recipient of the Dikemba Mutumbo Athlete Award while attending Ohio State University.
