Sarah Allen was named the head coach of UC women’s wrestling on May 12, 2023. She became the fourth head coach in program history.
Previously Allen had served as the program’s assistant coach for the last six years where she helped guide the team to one of the best programs in the NAIA with a 51-47-1 overall record including 20-12 within Mid-South Conference duals. Under her guidance she helped guide two national champions in Bridgette Duty (2020-21) and Dymond Guilford (2021-22, 2022-23). Guilford became Cumberlands’ first two-time NAIA National Champion as well.
In the last four years, UC has finished in the top-ten in the NAIA with their most recent placement of sixth at the 2023 NAIA National Championship, which narked the first year of women’s wrestling being a championship sport in the NAIA.
In the 2018-2019 Allen helped lead the team to a Mid-South Conference Regular Season Championship. In her time on the coaching staff, UC has earned All-American and MSC All-Conference status from 14 different wrestlers.
Prior to becoming an assistant coach, Allen finished up one of the best careers by any wrestler in the program’s history. She compiled 132 career wins from 2013-2017 which made her the winningest wrestler in program history. Allen was a two-time NAIA National Champion (2014-15 and 2015-16) and runner-up finishes at the WCWA Nationals (2015-2016) and USA University Nationals (2017). All of her accolades earned her as a member of UC’s All-Decade Team as the women’s wrestling representative.
