Ryan Franco serves as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the University of the Cumberlands wrestling program, while also contributing as the program’s Director of Strategic Operations.
A former student-athlete at Cumberlands, Franco competed on the men’s wrestling team while excelling academically, earning three Academic All-American honors during his collegiate career. His ability to balance elite academic performance with competitive wrestling laid the foundation for his transition into coaching and leadership roles within the program.
In his first year as a graduate assistant, Franco helped develop 12 national qualifiers and one All-American, playing a key role in practice planning, athlete development, and match preparation. He emphasizes discipline, accountability, and academic success, working closely with student-athletes to support both their competitive and classroom performance.
In addition to his on-mat responsibilities, Franco contributes to the operational side of the program as Director of Strategic Operations. His responsibilities include assisting with strategic planning, program management, and organizational support, helping ensure the day-to-day success and long-term growth of the wrestling program.
Franco earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Business from the University of the Cumberlands and is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration (MBA). His academic background and leadership experience allow him to bring a well-rounded approach to mentoring and developing student-athletes.
