Cheryl “CJ” Gilbert is a Sports Information Graduate Assistant at the University of the Cumberlands, where she assists with athletic communications, digital media, and game day operations. Since beginning the role in August 2025, she has served as the media contact for the Patriots’ men’s and women’s tennis, golf, swimming, and cross country programs. 

Gilbert manages social media coverage, writes game recaps and press releases, and assists with statistical reporting and media coordination for athletic events. She has also helped coordinate coverage for multiple NAIA Opening Round tournaments. 

A former student-athlete on the Cumberlands swimming team, Gilbert graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA and was named the 2024–25 Health & Exercise Science Department Student of the Year. During her collegiate career, she earned recognition as a two-time Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete and two-time MSC Academic All-Conference honoree. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Coaching and Fitness Leadership at Cumberlands.
