McClain is in her first year as an Athletic trainer here at UC. She will work mainly with Football and Women's Wrestling.
McClian is a certified and licensed athletic trainer for 5 years. She received my B.S. of Athletic Training in 2018 from Culver-Stockton College and then became a graduate assistant at York University in York, Nebraska. She received her M.A. in Global and Organizational Leadership from York in 2020. McClain came to UC from Hannibal High School in Hannibal, MO. She's worked with NAIA, NCAA D2, and most recently, high school athletes.
Kirby havs certifications in Graston technique, Kinesiotape, and Blood Flow Restriction therapy while also being certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association currently. Her philosophy on athletic training comes from a mix of prehab and injury prevention while also focusing on treating athletes with a blend of manual therapy techniques and rehab exercises.
Before being a trainer, McClain was previously a collegiate track athlete, and being an athlete was how she found out about the field of athletic training and fell in love. We're very excited to have her work with women's wrestling and football. When shes not in the training room, at the Armory, or on the field, you can find her hanging out with family and friends, trying out new food places and exploring the area, or out running.
