Tommy Chasanoff

Tommy Chasanoff is entering his tenth year in the Cumberlands Sports Information Director after being hired in September 2016.  Based on his success at Cumberlands, Chasanoff was elevated to an Assistant Athletic Director position in July 2020.  Throughout his time at UC, Chasanoff has overseen the Sports Information Department as well as serving as the main contact for a plethora of sports including women's basketball, archery, men's & women's lacrosse, men's & women's swimming, and women's soccer this season.  Under Chasanoff's direction, UC has seen tremendous success, record numbers of award winners, and transformed into one of the premier Sports Information Departments in the NAIA.

Chasanoff has garnered numerous honors and recognitions throughout his time at UC.  In September 2020 and again in 2024, Tommy was named the NAIA Sports Information Director of the Year, becoming the first Patriot to earn that honor and just the second person to earn this disctintion multiple times.  In addition to that, Chasanoff has been voted the Mid-South Conference Bill Sergent Sports Information Director of the Year five times.  In 2023, Tommy was named the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Rising Star.  In addition to his responsibilities at UC, Tommy continues to serve as the Meet Director for the Mid-South Conference archery, men's & women's indoor/outdoor track & field, and  men's & women's swimming championships.

Chasanoff has been active in the sports information community at both the conference and national levels. He is in his seventh year serving on the NAIA-SIDA Board, beginning his second year as NAIA-SIDA President.  Additionally, Tommy is the Chair of the CSC Membership Recognition Committee while being a member of the CoSIDA Mentorship Program and the CoSIDA Diversity & Inclusion Committee.  Over the past nine years, Tommy has served as the media coordinator for multiple NAIA championships, including NAIA Swimming & Diving Championship and the NAIA Men's & Women's Lacrosse Championships in addition to serving as the media director for multiple NAIA Opening Rounds hosted by UC. 

Prior to Cumberland, Chasanoff spent two years asthe Sports Information Director at Savannah College of Art & Design. In his time with the Bees, Chasanoff has covered all 21 varisty teams. He has served as the host SID for the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships in both 2015 and 2016.  Chasanoff has also served as the NAIA media coordinator for the 2016 NAIA Men's and Women's Lacrosse Invitational as well as the 2016 NAIA Women's Golf National Championships.  In 2016, the SCAD Athletic website finished tied for sixth place in the NAIA website contest.  During his tenure, SCAD has had nine NAIA National Player of the Week honors. 

Prior to SCAD, Chasanoff served as the assistant sports information director at the  University of Tampa for two years.    

While at Tampa, Chasanoff served as the main contact for both men’s and women’s lacrosse.  Chasanoff’s duties included compiling statistics, composing stories, designing the game day programs, and record keeping. He worked with the 2014 men’s lacrosse team that won the inaugural Sunshine State Conference title. Chasanoff also served as host SID for the quarterfinal game between Tampa and Mercyhurst. 

Prior to Tampa, Chasanoff spent four years working at Florida Southern College. Chasanoff served as the main contact for both men’s and women’s lacrosse as well as women’s soccer.  He also assisted with several other sports including tennis, baseball, track and field, and golf.  Chasanoff’s duties included compiling statistics, composing stories, designing the game day programs, and record keeping.

Chasanoff graduated with a duel bachelor’s degree in sport management and marketing from Webber International University in 2009.  In 2019, Chasanoff graduated from Cumberlands with his Masters in Business Administration. 

Chasanoff is a member of the US Paralympic track and field team. Over the past four years he has competed in England, New Zealand, Australia, and Mexico. He won four medals at the 2011 ParaPan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
